Mint Mobile is celebrating its 10th birthday and is discounting some plans by up to 72%. Now, Mint Mobile was already pretty inexpensive, but now it’s even cheaper.
The T-Mobile-owned MVNO is currently offering any six-month plan for just $10/month; that’s 50% off its lowest-tier 6GB plan and 71% off its plans with 23GB of data or unlimited data. That’s not too shabby, considering T-Mobile Postpaid lines start at $50 per month, and taxes and fees aren’t included, unlike Mint Mobile.
If you have been thinking about trying out Mint Mobile, now is a great time to do so. Think of it as an extended free trial: you can get six months of service for only $60. That’s probably cheaper than your current plan is for a single month.

Mint Mobile is one of T-Mobile’s prepaid carriers
For those who might be unaware, T-Mobile owns Mint Mobile. The magenta carrier bought Mint Mobile in 2024, after announcing the deal in 2023, for around $1.35 billion. It joined Metro by T-Mobile and T-Mobile Prepaid as its prepaid options. Right now, Mint Mobile still operates more like an MVNO than a prepaid brand.
Mint Mobile started as an MVNO, or Mobile Virtual Network Operator, in 2016. An MVNO works out a deal with the carrier that has a nationwide network like AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, and buys access to the network at wholesale. Think of Costco or Sam’s Club; they can resell it to customers at a much lower cost than the carrier would. This is because Mint Mobile has far less overhead, no physical stores, much fewer customer service agents, no network maintenance, etc.
So Mint Mobile runs on the T-Mobile network and has pretty good priority on its towers, since T-Mobile does own them now. If you have good T-Mobile coverage in your area, it’s definitely worth checking out.
