Google is reportedly updating the settings menu inside of the Google app with a new, more organized layout that aims to simplify the user experience, a move which the company has already started making with the Gemini app. These changes are upcoming based on the evidence that was found of their in existence in the 17.64.13 version of the Google app, but there is no clear indication of when Google might plan to push out this change to users as part of an update.
In the current version of the Google app, the settings page lists everything in one long list, with everything separated by sub-menus for things like Privacy and Safety, Notifications, Gemini, Voice, Customize Search Widget, Other Settings, and then the About section. The new visual design will streamline the way things are presented to help make it easier to find specific groups of settings that a user may be trying to make adjustments to.
The Google app settings redesign will group sections into a card-style layout
Based on details found by Android Authority, the Google app settings redesign will be grouping things into different cards. Each card section will be labeled by its own sub-menu name, such as Privacy and Safety. The Privacy and Safety card will contain sub-menus for Privacy and Safety, SafeSearch, and Results about You, which will each also contain further adjustable settings that are categorized into those sections. There will also be a card for Connected Apps, which will house the sub-menus for Gemini and Customize Search Widget.
Another card, which sits at the very top of the settings menu, will be labeled as Your App Experience, and will have the sub-menus for Notifications, Search Personalization, and Voice. The redesign isn’t going to be a drastic change to the way things look visually, but it will make things more visible for users.
