It’s not uncommon for AI assistants to sometimes show strange behavior out of nowhere. We’ve seen Gemini’s fair share of issues in recent times. But today, we’re seeing a bug in Amazon’s Alexa, where it won’t stop saying the words “la la la.” As you’d naturally expect, this weird behavior could really creep out the owners during conversations.
Amazon Alexa’s latest bug has it repeating “la la la”
Technically, this isn’t something new. Users have reported this issue for over a month. It seems the AI gets stuck repeating the word “la” over and over again. According to user reports, Alexa keeps saying this word for several minutes before finally stopping. A Reddit user reports that when asked Alexa why it had been repeatedly saying the phrase, Alexa simply denied it and responded that there was no routine or announcement with the phrase in the user’s recent activity.
It even went on to suggest that something else might have been playing or that it was a mishearing. When the user insisted that the sounds had come directly from Alexa and were part of a conversation they were having, Alexa continued to deny it. This is even after the user explained that the repeated phrase sounds had occurred in the middle of their conversation.
Not the first time
The user claims that at one point, Alexa was singing instead of just speaking. The whole thing almost sounded experimental, as though the AI was testing different vocal sounds and ways of repeating the same phrase. This apparently isn’t the first time that Alexa has acted strangely. Just a couple of months ago, users were caught off guard when Alexa made guttural sounds, almost like a snarling animal.
It’s not quite clear what’s causing this weird behavior. But some users blame it on a recent update. We will share an update once we learn more about this strange bug.
