At least one ‘Ultra’ phone has been cancelled, and its specs have just surfaced. The device in question is the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, which was expected to launch next year. It seems like that won’t be happening.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has seemingly been canceled, and it was supposed to bring top-tier camera specs
The informaiton comes from Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known tipsters around. He claims that the phone has been cancelled. He added that Xiaomi believed its price would be too high for consumers. Needless to say, extremely high component prices are the reason why.
The tipster did share the specs, though. Xiaomi was planning ot use a 200-megapixel main LOFIC camera with a 1/1.12-inch senosr size. Thanks to LOFIC tech, it would have been great in HDR situations.
In addition to that, a 200-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size was planned, which is great for an ultrawide unit. That’s not something we see often.
A 200MP 1/1.28-inch LOFIC periscope telephoto camera was also supposed to be included
The third camera on the back was supposed to be a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto LOFIC camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor size. That camera was supposed to offer continuous optical zoom periscope lens.
A multitspectral lens was also planned, and the same geos for a magnetic external lens. The tipster also mentioned a 0916 haptics motor and symmetrical dual speakers. A flat display with 1mm bezels on all four sides was also supposed to be included.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra was announced in February this year, so its successor was expected around the same time. That won’t be happening, though, it seems, unfortunately. Xiaomi has to pull the plug due to the fact its price would be too high.
Nothing has been confirmed just yet, of course. This is just a rumor, but Digital Chat Station is usually spot on with his information, so we have no reason to doubt him.
