The Vivo X Fold 6 was announced in China back in June, and on October 1, its global variant was announced. Needless to say, the vast majority of you are more interested in the global model, which is why we waited to publish this article. The Vivo X Fold 6 is an immensely interesting smartphone for several reasons. What stood out to me the most is its camera setup and new features as part of OriginOS 6 Fold.
This is a regular book-style foldable, not a wide foldable. The phone is here to compete directly with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, OPPO Find N6, Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and a number of other devices. This phone does have the edge in some ways over those devices, which is also why it’s so interesting. In this article, we’ll talk about its specs, colors, features, and more. Let’s get to it, shall we?
Vivo X Fold 6 specs
The Vivo X Fold 6 is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor. That’s a 3nm chip, and it’s backed by 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 flash storage in the global model. The device includes the imaging chip V3+, and it does not offer storage expansion. It is IPX8, IPX9, and IPX5 certified.
It has two gorgeous ZEISS Master Color Displays
The main display on the phone is an 8.02-inch foldable panel, while the cover display is a 6.51-inch panel. Both of those panels are ZEISS Master Color Display 8T panels, AMOLED LTPO displays. The main one has a resolution of 2504 x 2312, while the cover panel offers a resolution of 2528 x 1120. Both panels offer an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), HDR10+ support, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, Netflix HDR, and SGS Low Blue Light certification.
Vivo opted for a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery here. The phone supports 80W wired, 40W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. It uses its own FlashCharge standard for fast charging, but the good news is that a charger is included inside the box. At least it was in the retail box that the company shipped our way. Bluetooth 6.0 is supported, as is Wi-Fi 7. Android 17 comes pre-installed with OriginOS 7 Fold on top of it.
Its camera hardware setup is probably even the best on any foldable
The main camera on this phone is a 200-megapixel unit, with Samsung’s HPB sensor. That’s a 1/1.4-inch sensor, and you’re also getting an f/1.68 aperture here. The ultrawide camera is a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor, with a sensor size of 1/2.76 inches and an aperture of f/2.05. There is also a periscope telephoto camera, a 50-megapixel one. That one uses Sony’s LYTIA 602 sensor, which has a 1/1.95-inch sensor size. The aperture here is f/2.05. Two 20-megapixel front-facing cameras are also included, one on each of the displays. Those are CMOS sensors (1/3.6 inches), with an f/2.4 aperture.
The phone measures 157.2 x 74.3 x 9.4mm (Black) / 9.9mm (Blue) when folded, and 157.2 x 145.7 x 4.4mm (Black) / 4.8mm (Blue) when unfolded. It comes in Black and Blue colors. The Black model weighs 228 grams, while the Blue weighs 235 grams.

How much does the Vivo X Fold 6 cost?
This is one detail that the company did not share just yet. It announced the phone for global markets, but we did not get any information about the phone’s pricing outside of China. In China, the prices range from CNY7,999 ($1,175) for the 12GB+256GB model, all the way up to CNY12,299 ($1,807) for the model with the Photography Kit. That photography kit will be available globally as well, but as a separate purchase, it seems.
Where can I buy the Vivo X Fold 6?
This is another detail that the company did not share. Based on previous models, however, the availability won’t exactly be vast. The phone will be available in some regions where Vivo is officially selling it. You’ll be able to use it elsewhere, but you’ll need to import the phone in order to do so. That’s just an assumption, though, as Vivo still did not release the details. Who knows, the company could be planning to expand the phone’s availability this time around.
What carriers does it work on?
The Vivo X Fold 6 has a wide range of support for global carriers. You should always double-check before getting it, of course. At the moment, we don’t have the exact bands that the phone will support, but based on its predecessor, it will have packed support in that regard and should work with the vast majority of carriers all over the globe and basically all of them in Europe.
What colors does the Vivo X Fold 6 come in?
In China, the phone was announced in three colors, and globally it comes in only two. You’ll be able to get the device in Black or Blue options. The Black model is slightly thinner and slightly lighter, but other than that, only the color is what makes them different. The Black model is actually more of a dark gray color, while the Blue one is a light blue, cyan-like color. It’s called Azure in China, in case that helps describe it. You can check out the colors below, which is actually the best description.

What new upgrades does the Vivo X Fold 6 have over the Vivo X Fold 5?
In many ways, these two phones are quite similar. They also have a similar design. However, the Vivo X Fold 6 does bring several notable improvements, so that’s what we’re here to unpack. Let’s see what’s new and improved on the newer model.
New processor
The Vivo X Fold 6 is fueled by a more powerful chip than its predecessor, of course. It comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. This may not be the latest and greatest from MediaTek at this point, but it was until recently. The Dimensity 9500 is an excellent chip, as it was proven throughout 2026, and it offers great image processing boosted by the V3+.
OriginOS 7 Fold
Android 17 comes pre-installed on the device, with Vivo’s OriginOS 7 Fold skin made for foldables. This skin is driven by the Origin Smooth Engine, and it boosts performance. Vivo’s Workbench is a great solution for multitasking on the main display, my favorite thus far. Not only does it allow you to run five apps at the same time, but it does that in an extremely functional way. We’re only scratching the surface here.
Main camera boost
The Vivo X Fold 6 comes with an upgraded main camera. It includes a 200-megapixel unit this time around, with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. Samsung’s HPB sensor is used, and this camera does support OIS as well, while it has an f/1.68 aperture. The other two cameras are the same as they were on the Vivo X Fold 5.
Larger battery
Vivo also provided a notable boost to the battery capacity and longevity on the Vivo X Fold 6. This phone includes a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery in global markets, compared to a 6,000mAh unit in the Vivo X Fold 5. It is also worth noting that 80W wired, 40W wireless, and reverse wireless charging is included, along with a charger.
What official cases are available for the Vivo X Fold 6?
We only have information about one official case for the Vivo X Fold 6, the one that is included in the retail box. That case is outstanding, actually. You can see it below. It’s a plastic case, covered by vegan leather-like material for better grip. It’s rather thin and offers great camera protection. It also protects the hinge, and that part is also covered by this grippy material. I don’t particularly like cases for phones, but this one is very nice. The fact that it’s included in the box is a huge plus. It does not come with built-in magnets, though.
Should I buy the Vivo X Fold 6?
This is something each of you will have to answer for yourself, and it’s not something that we can even talk about properly, as the prices are not out yet. The price of the Vivo X Fold 6 will play a huge role in whether the phone is worth getting or not, but it does have plenty to offer over the competition to be in the running; that’s for sure.
