Recently, there was a weird Google Photos bug that basically caused the app to become unresponsive when users edited or tried to share their photos. Thankfully, it seems Google was on top of things. The company told Android Authority that a fix for the issue that caused Google Photos to freeze is now ready.
Google Photos freeze fix is now ready
Google confirmed to Android Authority that a fix for the Google Photos freeze issue is ready and rolling out as we speak. “We’ve rolled out a fix for this issue. It is available now in the latest version of the Google Photos app (version 7.94.0.988717361).”
So, if you happen to be affected by this bug, make sure that you are running the latest version of the app. You can grab the update by downloading the latest version of Google Photos from the Play Store. Once you’ve updated the app, the issue should have been resolved.
Like we said in our previous post, editing and sharing photos is one of the basic and core functions of an app like Google Photos. So, for a bug to affect those basic functions seemed rather weird. But thankfully Google didn’t waste any time pushing out an update, so there’s that.
What actually happened?
In case you missed our previous coverage and your Google Photos is freezing up, here’s what happened. Users discovered that when they loaded up a photo in Google Photos and tried to edit or share it, the app became unresponsive. They could tap the edit and share buttons in the app, but nothing would happen.
At that time, it was suggested by the PixelCommunity account on Reddit that users should uninstall and reinstall the app, as well as clear the cache for the Google Photos app. However, some users who tried that claimed that it didn’t work. It also affected various Pixel devices, ranging from the Pixel 9a up to the Pixel 11 Pro.
