Qualcomm has officially unveiled its flagship chips. That’s right, we have two: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Now that it’s done, we’ll start seeing a range of Android flagships launch in the coming days. One among them is from OnePlus, which might debut sometime later this month or early next. But before that, the OnePlus 16 has now appeared on the AnTuTu benchmark, hinting at what’s to come.
OnePlus 16 has appeared on the AnTuTu benchmark ahead of launch
The OnePlus 16 has the model identifier “PYB110,” and it arrives just hours after the announcement of new Snapdragon chips. First, let’s talk hardware. It packs 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. We’re pretty sure there’ll be other options during launch. While Qualcomm’s new flagship chip supports LPDDR6 memory, OnePlus is sticking with the older RAM generation. We’re not sure why that is exactly at this time. It could be a way to keep the OnePlus 16’s price in check.
Either way, the upcoming OnePlus flagship fares quite well in AnTuTu V12, with a total score of 5,384,433. These scores are comparatively higher than what the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could achieve. It could pull off a CPU score of 1,458,283; a CPU score of 2,010,584; a memory score of 766,362; and, lastly, a UX score of 1,149,204. The listing confirms it’ll boot Android 17 OS.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 at the helm
The OnePlus 16 will be equipped with a 2nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. While that’s already a generational upgrade over the predecessor, the phone will reportedly also get another upgrade. It may feature a BOE X4 display and will likely support a 185Hz refresh rate during gaming. In regular conditions, though, it will offer a 165Hz refresh rate, which is still higher than the usual 120Hz on most flagships.
A massive 9,000mAh battery will keep the lights on for the OnePlus 16. There’s 100W fast charging through a wire and 50W wireless charging support. OnePlus seems to be focusing on the cameras as well. Rumors point to a 200MP main camera, backed by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.95-inch sensor size. Lastly, it’ll house the 50MP ultrawide unit. The Adreno 850 GPU will handle the graphical needs.
The company has already revealed its design. It’ll arrive in three colors, with one of them getting built-in LEDs. Unfortunately, the OnePlus 16 won’t make its way to the US or Europe, as the company has closed its operations. It is likely to be exclusive to China and, hopefully, India.
