Xbox is getting ready to roll out Mythic Achievements for players, which is being hailed as the Xbox reward equivalent of PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies. To get a platinum trophy, or in this case a mythic achievement, is the ultimate expression of a dedicated gamer who was willing to go the extra mile by collecting every single trophy or achievement that game has to offer. Only by collecting every single achievement or trophy are the mythic or platinum ones unlocked.
In some cases, collecting every achievement or trophy is less challenging, but there are many games out there with achievements or trophies that are especially difficult to acquire, and that’s what makes these new mythic achievements a high tier of bragging rights for Xbox players. The unofficial arrival of Xbox mythic achievements follows the recent news about Xbox laying off 268 employees across Halo Studios, first-party studios, and Xbox Game Studios management, which sees the Halo franchise now being developed under Activision.

Xbox Mythic Achievements come with their own unique sound
While the new mythic achievements have not officially rolled out yet, the achievement icon and sound you hear when acquiring one have already surfaced inside the latest version of the Xbox app. The achievement was initially discovered by Klobrille on X, who showcases the icon as well as the unlock sound. The icon is a green six-pointed star set in a darker green circle being hugged by a pair of olive leaves.
The mythic achievements are expected to be the reward for a 100% completion of the gamerscore associated with acquiring all other achievements. Xbox has not confirmed whether or not mythic achievements would be retroactive for players who have already gotten all achievements.
As reported by The Verge, mythic achievements will be displayable on gamer profiles and players will be able to track them via the Xbox Dashboard.
