It boasts of up to 30% lower power consumption than previous M14 displays, improved color accuracy, and high-frequency 3,300Hz pulse-width modulation dimming to eliminate flickers.
When pushed purely for maximum specs—like on the upcoming iQOO 16—the M16 panel can hit a staggering 10,000 nits of local peak brightness alongside a 165Hz refresh rate. However, pushing those maximum light output figures requires specific optical layers that make adding extra display features almost impossible.
Why capping specs is a win for real users
Instead of giving users a 10,000-nit screen that only triggers on a tiny area of the display for a few seconds, Samsung is making a deliberate design choice. The Galaxy S27 Ultra will discard those extreme peak brightness figures and a 165Hz jump to accommodate hardware-level privacy protection right inside the display panel itself.
This integrated Privacy Display tech works by narrowing the screen’s viewing angles whenever you activate it.
