Samsung is officially rolling out its September 2026 security update for Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. However, the delivery strategy looks a bit different this time around. Instead of kicking off the monthly update with a standard public patch for its top-tier flagships, Samsung packaged the September security fixes inside a One UI 9 beta build for the Galaxy A55.
Heavy development work on One UI 9 testing programs likely pushed regular maintenance updates slightly down the priority list. Beta testers are getting early access to these fresh protections. Meanwhile, mainstream users outside the testing program may face short delays. They have to wait as Samsung balances engineering resources across both software pipelines.
Breaking down the 90 security fixes
Behind the unusual deployment schedule lies a massive security cleanup. The September release resolves 90 distinct vulnerabilities across the entire system. It fixes vulnerabilities that could lead to unauthorized access to the system, data exposure, or execution of untrusted actions on the software if left unpatched.
To keep things transparent, Samsung provided a detailed breakdown to explain the source of these security patches.
Google gave 58 of the total fixes, rating 18 as Critical and 40 as High risk. Google’s monthly security bulletin also contained 40 additional issues that did not apply to Galaxy hardware, while one flaw was already patched in a previous software update.
Samsung Semiconductor provided a single patch, which carries a High-risk classification.
Samsung Mobile supplied 31 unique Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) fixes specifically for Galaxy devices. Among these custom patches, two are marked as Critical, three as High, and 15 as Moderate severity, with the final 11 undisclosed for safety reasons (via SamMobile).

While mid-range beta testers grabbed the first wave, Samsung plans to expand the September 2026 security patch to a wider selection of eligible Galaxy devices over the coming days.
