Scam Detection is reportedly going to be showing up on Samsung Galaxy S27 devices when they launch in the future, according to new evidence found in strings of code via the One UI 9 beta 7 files. Scam Detection is a feature that has one primary goal: to stop scammers from taking advantage of people.
The feature does this by using AI to recognize and filter out calls and messages that are suspected to be scams, so users don’t fall victim to any schemes of bad actors. It’s available on the Pixel 9, Pixel 10, and Pixel 11 series phones, and it was pushed out to Galaxy S26 series phones earlier this year. At that time it also received some improvements to the way it detects and handles scams in Google Messages.
Scam Detection will be coming to older devices in addition to the Galaxy S27
The Galaxy S27 won’t be the only phone getting the Scam Detection feature according to reports. As spotted by Android Authority, the One UI 9 beta 7 update files show references to several older Galaxy devices that are poised to get the anti-scam feature as well. This includes but isn’t limited to the Galaxy S25 series phones.
Samsung also looks to be introducing the feature to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, as well as the Galaxy Z TriFold. So far, neither Google nor Samsung have confirmed that Scam Detection will be expanding to these devices. However, the references to these devices in relation to the feature, Android Authority says, is what indicates that the two companies are working on it and plan to release it to those devices at some point down the road, perhaps with the the official stable release of One UI 9 to those devices.
One UI 9 is already available on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
