In a recent move, Apple has increased the prices of its Apple Music and One bundle subscription plans. The price hike applies to the United States and several other countries, making the services expensive for millions of users. Updated prices will take effect in the coming weeks.
Apple announces price increase for Apple Music plans
Starting July 17, Apple Music subscribers will now have to pay $11.99 per month for the Individual plan. The same plan used to cost $10.99. Meanwhile, the Family Plan price has been revised to $19.99, up from $16.99. The Student Plan price has been increased from $5.99 per month to $6.99 per month.
In its official statement, Apple has said the rising licensing costs are the main reason behind the price hike. As said earlier, the newly announced prices apply to most countries, including the United States. However, regional prices may vary.
Apple One bundle plans get costlier too
Apart from Apple Music, the tech giant has also increased the prices of its One bundle plans. The Individual Plan price has been increased to $21.95 from the earlier $19.95 per month. However, the Family Plan will now cost $27.95, up from $25.95. The Premier Plan, which earlier cost $37.95, will now cost $39.95. Both affected Apple One plans have therefore gone up by $2 a month.
Most subscription plans are going to costlier. Spotify, for reference, recently increased its subscription prices. Apple even took a swipe at Spotify’s price hikes on social media, but now it has increased the prices too. Regardless, Apple Music’s plan prices remain cheaper than those of Spotify. More importantly, this is Apple Music’s first price increase since October 2022, when Apple raised the Individual plan from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. Apple One prices were also increased at that time.
