It’s been about a year since Sony launched the Xperia 10 VII. While Sony doesn’t really have the same level of presence as Samsung, Google, or Apple in the mobile space, they are still churning out new phones. In fact, Sony just debuted the Xperia 10 VIII, the successor to last year’s phone.
Sony debuts the Xperia 10 VIII
When it comes to the design of the Sony Xperia 10 VIII, the company has largely kept a similar design language. In fact, it’s kind of fascinating to see that even though it has changed over the years, there’s still something distinctly “Sony” about it. For the most part, it looks relatively unchanged compared to the Xperia 10 VII, save for different color options.
As for its hardware, it uses the same 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display with a FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. That seems par for the course, nothing amazing but more than enough to get the job done and then some. However, Sony claims to have boosted the overall brightness by 50%.
Speaking of the display, Sony has hidden the front-facing stereo speakers in the bezels. The company claims that they are now 30% stronger, which should make it great for movies, videos, and gaming.
Under the hood, you’ll find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Once again, not the most flashy of specs, but it’s a decent mid-ranger. Perhaps its saving grace is that it supports microSD for memory expansion. That’s pretty rare for smartphones these days.
As for the camera situation, there are dual cameras on the back. There’s a 50MP main accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide. Last but not least, the phone features a 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging. It also comes with Android 16 preinstalled, with Sony promising four major OS updates.
Pricing and availability
If you’re thinking about getting your hands on the Sony Xperia 10 VIII, it is priced at 599 Euros. It is expected to go on sale mid to late September 2026. Unfortunately, it does not look like the phone will be making its way stateside. Instead, Sony is only targeting a release in Japan, the UK, and select European markets. That’s more or less in line with Sony’s past releases, and it doesn’t look like it will change for the Xperia 10 VIII.
