We now have proof that the Sony Xperia 1 IX is on the way, the company’s new flagship smartphone. Not only that, but this confirms that the phone will arrive in global versions, as expected.
The Walkman Blog spotted three unreleased Xperia model numbers on GSMA’s IMEI database earlier this month. Those three models are XQ-H44 (PM-1545-BV), XQ-HH54 (PM-1540-BV), and XQ-HH74 (PM-1541-BV).
Those three models are almost surely for Japan, Europe, and the rest of the world, respectively. We already wrote about this when the report initially surfaced.
Three new variants of the Sony Xperia 1 IX have been spotted, thus confirming its existence
With that being said, Travel SIM has spotted three new variants of the phone. Those variants are PM-1542-BV, PM-1543-BV, and PM-1544-BV.
Based on the provided information, those three variantsa re for Docomo, AU, and Softbank variants of the Sony Xperia 1 IX.
Having said that, the Sony Xperia 1 IX will not be coming anytime soon. The Xperia 1 VIII arrived back in May this year, while its predecessor arrived exactly a year before that. So, if Sony continues down that path, and it probably will, we’ll have to wait until May next year for the Xperia 1 IX.
These IMEI database listings are only confirmations that the company is working on the device. Despite the fact that it’s not exactly the most popular lineup out there, Sony keeps pushing its flagships, alongside the Xperia 10 series.
The Sony Xperia 10 VIII launched earlier today
Speaking of which, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII arrived earlier today. It was announced as a budget offering from the company, to stand alongside the Xperia 1 VIII, which arrived earlier this year.
The Sony Xperia 1 IX will almost certainly utilize either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip. Those two processors will become official during the upcoming Snapdragon Summit 2026.
