Google’s Pixel 11 series phones have a small change to the boot-up animation compared to older Android devices. It’s a shift that signifies Google’s priorities and focus toward what it wants to push users towards. The boot-up animation on Android devices for the longest time has said ‘Powered by Android’ just before the home screen loads in, but that is no longer the case on the Pixel 11 series.
Instead, Google’s new phones now simply say ‘Gemini Intelligence‘ as you boot up the device, preceded by a short little glow effect that surrounds the edges of the display. Google has been focusing hard on Gemini integration in its Pixel devices and other Android devices from other manufacturers. But Google is now switching things up, and this could happen on other devices.
The new boot-up screen for the Pixel 11 means Gemini is playing more of a central role
While this is just a simple boot-up animation screen for a phone, and not really a major feature or functional change, it’s a good indication that Google is moving more and more toward highlighting Gemini in all aspects of the Android platform, even if is just only on the Pixel devices right now.
As mentioned by 9To5Google, the time it takes for the phone to boot up does appear to be faster than it used to be when the Powered by Android message was still there. Google’s shift to integrate Gemini everywhere possible began in earnest after Gemini was first revealed, and slowly it has made its way into more and more parts of the Android ecosystem, in addition to Google’s Chrome browser. Gemini has also been integrated with Wear OS smartwatches, including Google’s own Pixel Watch 5 that launched on August 20, and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 that released earlier this month.
