Samsung’s A-series is quite popular in the mid-range segment. In fact, they’re among the best sellers globally. The company refreshes the lineup yearly, bringing new upgrades at a slightly more affordable price point compared to the flagship S-series. It launched the Galaxy A57 (review) earlier this year in March alongside the A37. Months later, it now looks like the Galaxy A58 is coming, as we’re seeing indications that suggest Samsung is already working on it alongside a mysterious new Galaxy XCover FR.
Samsung’s Galaxy A58 might be coming sooner than expected
The upcoming Galaxy A58 and a mysterious new Galaxy XCover FR have reportedly been spotted within the GSMA database. The latter will be a part of Samsung’s XCover series that’s available in select regions. Unfortunately, the GSMA listings don’t really reveal the hardware specs of the phones. They act as a signal that the phones are in active development.
What it does reveal, though, is the SM-A5860 model number for the Galaxy A58, with the last digit/character indicating the market it’ll be available in. This particular variant is apparently destined for the Chinese market. The listing also clearly mentions the Galaxy A58 5G marketing name.
Like the predecessor, the Galaxy A58 could arrive with a high-quality AMOLED display, upgraded processor, Android 17-based One UI 9.5 skin out of the box, and hopefully improved optics and battery. Samsung is likely to offer long software support and a durable design.

A new Galaxy XCover phone
Meanwhile, the last XCover phone that Samsung launched is the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro, which debuted in 2025. So it’s natural for the brand to work on a new model. It seems Samsung will name it the Galaxy XCover FR. This bears the model identifier SM-G778B, as per the GSMA listing. Again, we don’t know much about the phone at the moment. It is likely to follow the rugged design elements of the XCover series.
We’ll probably know more about these new Galaxy phones in the days to come. Given the Galaxy A57’s March launch timeline, its successor is likely to arrive around the same time. But it’s just speculation for now.
