Given the current memory crisis, these price increases had been expected.
For this price, you’re getting quite a bit of phone, including a 5.5-inch 16:10 aspect ratio cover display and a 3:4 aspect ratio 7.6-inch inner display. This is going to make watching YouTube so much more enjoyable, since you’re going to have fewer black bars around the content. It’s still great for multitasking too since the apps won’t be crammed together.
Internally, you’re looking at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There is also a 512GB option, while the 1TB option will come with 16GB of RAM. Obviously, the whole reason for this device is Apple and its upcoming iPhone Ultra, which is going to be its first folding device. While Samsung has owned the market in the US, they are not about to get some legitimate competition, and thus the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 was born.
Honestly, it’s about time Samsung made some changes to the Galaxy Z Fold, though. They’ve been sticking with some pretty skinny cover displays since the beginning. While they have gotten wider, even the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is still quite skinny compared to a normal smartphone. And now we have the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is wider than most smartphones. It’s about the same size as a passport, just to give you an idea.
