Huawei has just announced its new global flagship smartphones, along with a pair of earphones and a tablet. Let’s kick things off by talking about the phones, shall we?
Huawei just announced the Pura 90s Pro flagships, along with some other products
The smartphone series in question is the Huawei Pura 90s Pro series. You may be surprised that these are not simply the Pura 90 Pro phones, which is understandable. Huawei decided to add the ‘s’ branding to global versions of these phones.
To answer the question many of you probably have, yes, these are global variants of the devices Huawei announced back in April, in case you missed that. The Huawei Pura 90 series dropped back on April 20.
The design here is easily recognizable to be Huawei’s. A trio of cameras on the back is arranged in a triangle format, while the camera on the right is notably larger than the other two.Â
Huawei also opted for a gradient color scheme here, making these devices really pop. Well, two out of four Pura 90s Pro Max colors are gradient: Orange Ocean and Blaze Purple. Blush Gold and Graphite Black are also available; those are white and black colors, essentially.
The Huawei Pura 90s Pro
The Huawei Pura 90s Pro has a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 2760 x 1256 pixels. It is fueled by the Kirin 9030S processor and ships with EMUI 16 on top of Android. The phone offers 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
A 50-megapixel main camera is used here with an f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture, OIS is supported. A 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera is also used, with an f/2.1 aperture and OIS. The last camera is a 12.5-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture).
Do note that the EU model of the phone has a smaller battery than the one in other regions. Rated capacity for the EU is 5,270mAh, while for non-EU countries it’s 5,850mAh (6,000mAh typical capacity).
66W wired charging is supported here, along with 50W wireless charging. The phone is also IP68 and IP69 certified.
The Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max
The Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display with a resolution of 2880 x 1308 pixels. That’s an LTPO display with a 1-120 Hz refresh rate and high-frequency PWM dimming.
The Kirin 9030S fuels this phone, while EMUI 16 comes pre-installed. The phone offers 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The storage is not expandable, by the way.
A 50-megapixel main camera is included with a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0. OIS is also supported. There is also a 40-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The last camera is a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto unit with an f/2.6 aperture and OIS. It has 4x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom.
The battery in the EU has a rated capacity of 5,270mAh, while outside of the EU is 5,850mAh. The typical capacity outside of the EU is 6,000mAh. 100W wired charging is supported, along with 80W wireless charging. The phone is IP68 and IP69 certified.
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S
The Huawei FreeClip 2 S earbuds come in Deepsea Blue and Space Silver colors. These are open-ear earbuds, with a 60mAh battery in each. The charging case has a 537mAh battery. They can charge via wired or wirelessly.
There are touchpads included on the earbuds, while Bluetooth 6.0 is supported here. They can connect to two devices at the same time. The earbuds are IP57 certified, while the case is IP54 certified. A 10.8mm dual-diaphragm driver is used here.
The Huawei MatePad Air
The Huawei MatePad Air is the company’s new 12-inch tablet. It has an OLED PaperMatte Display and a resolution of 2800 x 1840. The peak brightness is 1,200 nits, while the tablet has a 92% screen-to-body ratio.
This tablet includes 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 50-megapixel main camera is included, along with a 12-megapixel selfie camera. The device has a 10,400mAh battery capacity, while 66W charging is supported
We still don’t have price tags for any of these devices. They were announced during an event in Kuala Lumpur.
