Samsung really, really wants you to buy a foldable.
Now that Samsung has made Unpacked official for July 22, the marketing machine is ramping up. Samsung already teased the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a SpiderMan: Brand New Day image yesterday; now Samsung has put out a new blog post about foldables. Where Samsung answers some pretty popular questions about foldables and also tells us the difference between its foldables.
In this article, Samsung details what a foldable phone is, while also telling you the difference between the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Saying that the Galaxy Z Fold is more for “productivity, creativity, and entertainment.” While the Galaxy Z Flip is something that’s compact and better for portability.
Of course, Samsung also highlights how foldables are much better at multitasking than traditional slab phones. Which, obviously, is because they have a larger display. But this is also where Samsung’s lineup of Galaxy Z devices really show their colors.
There’s the Galaxy Z Flip, a small compact foldable, then the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is a book-style foldable with a tablet-sized screen, and the Galaxy Z TriFold, which has a 10-inch display that is more like a tablet than even the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
And that’s where the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra fit in, come July 22. They sit right in the middle of that lineup, showing that Samsung is looking to differentiate its foldable lineup the same way it did with its Galaxy S line.
The Android Headlines Take
If you’re new to foldables, or are interested in getting one soon, this is a really great read. Samsung doesn’t talk about the foldable market, just their own foldables – as expected. Samsung does go into great detail about foldables and how they’ve changed since the Galaxy Fold was first announced in 2019, hard to believe that was 7 years ago now.
If you are thinking about buying a foldable, I’d urge you to wait until July 22. Samsung will announce the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (as well as some new watches). Typically, with a new release, the older model gets a nice discount.
