Google might be selling the Galaxy Watch 8 on the Google Store. We say “might” because a user found a banner in the Play Store highlighting the Galaxy Watch 8, and once the banner was clicked, they were taken to the Google Store and could purchase it at a discount.
But we’ve been unable to replicate this, nor can we find the listing on the Google Store. In fact, when you click on the “watches and trackers” page, it’s all Fitbit products like the Fitbit Air, Google Pixel Watch 4, and the Fitbit Charge 6.
The said banner said that you could get $20 off the Galaxy Watch 8, which was true when the user got to checkout. And shipping did appear to be rather quick, arriving July 12-14. However, it is cheaper elsewhere right now. The Galaxy Watch 8 is on Amazon for $289 right now. Additionally, Samsung is preparing to announce the Galaxy Watch 9 on July 22, which would likely push the price of the Galaxy Watch 8 even lower.

The Android Headlines Take
So what could this mean for Google? It could mean that Google is going to start promoting all Wear OS smartwatches on its store. After all, it does sell third-party accessories already, so why not third-party watches too? Unfortunately, in the US, the Galaxy Watch is the only other Wear OS watch now. Since OnePlus has essentially closed up shop here.
Google tends to do a lot of tests on the Google Play Store and other apps that it has. So this could be another test to see what people think about Google promoting a Samsung watch. Or it could simply be a short rollout. Either way, it’s a good way to use up that Google Store credit you might have lying around.
