Samsung has just started rolling out new security improvements to two of its smartwatches. The company is now rolling out the July 2026 stability improvements to the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 7.
Do note that the company’s smartwatches received a new security update every quarter. It’s not a monthly ordeal as it is with the company’s smartphones. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic users can identify this update via a PDA build version ending with AZF4.
On the Galaxy Watch 7, the firmware version ends with BZF4, and the same goes for the original Galaxy Watch Ultra. DO note that the update weighs around 170MB, though that could vary from one market to the next.
This update’s rollout started in South Korea, Samsung’s homeland, but it will quickly spread to various other markets, as is usually the case when it comes to the company’s updates.
What about the contents of this update? Well, that’s something we don’t have any information yet. Samsung did not detail what security fixes are coming to the watches, nor how many of them. There don’t seem to be any new features included, though.
The Android Headlines Take
It’s always nice to see security updates on tech, regardless of what type of device it is. While it would be nice to see the details behind this update, even if we don’t have that (yet), the peace of mind is good to have.
Samsung has been on point when it comes to quarterly updates for its wearables up to now. It’s also worth saying that the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are right around the corner. Their existence was confirmed very recently, and they’re expected to arrive alongside the company’s foldables later this month.
