Google is apparently preparing a photo shuffle feature for cycling through wallpapers on the Google Pixel. A feature Apple already had on iOS, surprisingly.
Android Authority has torn down the latest beta version of Android 17 QPR1, which includes some hints at a new feature that’s coming, called “Photo Shuffle” in the Pixel Wallpaper and Style app. Essentially, it’s going to allow you
Basically, you’ll be able to create an album full of wallpapers that you want to cycle through. This can include your favorite people, pets, and automatically shuffle through your phone’s wallpaper. Users will be able to select an existing album to cycle through its contents or create a new album with the people and pets of their choice.
You’ll be able to have the wallpaper cycle through hourly, daily, at sunrise and sunset, or when you tap on it. There may be a few more options appearing once this feature is actually live. There are only a few strings of code in the beta, without the feature actually working right now.

The Android Headlines Take
This is going to be a feature that will be very widely used, I’d suspect. People love their wallpapers, and to have your phone bring up a new wallpaper of your dog or significant other every hour or so, that would be really cool. Sprucing up your homescreen, so to speak.
However, it is important to note that since this feature is just now showing up in the fifth beta of QPR1, we don’t expect this to be available with Android 17 QPR1 launches in August with the Pixel 11 series. Though we could be wrong, this really depends on how much work Google needs to put in to get it going. I could totally see Google opting to leave this behind until QPR1 rolls out and list it as a Pixel Drop feature.
