Today, Nothing announced that they are expanding their US retail footprint by coming to more than 500 Best Buy stores nationwide, and will be available from Best Buy’s website.
This is a huge deal for Nothing. Before today, only some of Nothing’s phones were available in the US, and they were mostly using a “beta” tag, as they did not work 100% with all three networks. Now that Nothing devices will be available in Best Buy stores, it means that we’re going to be seeing more devices here, and they could be taking OnePlus’ spot in the US.
This comes after a pretty successful launch for Nothing in Canada last year at Best Buy. Nothing says that its smartphones, earbuds, and audio products will all be available in Best Buy US stores starting today.
Nothing has a pretty interesting look for their products, which is unlike any other company in the market right now. They really embrace the transparent look on their phones and audio products, which look quite cool, while also being much cheaper than the competition.
What does this mean for the US smartphone landscape?
This year, there’s been a lot of rumors of OnePlus pulling out of the US, and other markets by the end of the year. Which leaves a hole in the US market, a small hole but still a hole. And it’s one that Nothing appears to be looking to fill.
By no means did OnePlus ever have a strong foothold in the US, but it did bring competition to Samsung, Google, Motorola, and Apple. Now, it looks like that’s going to fall to Nothing’s products.
More options is always a good thing, and that’s exactly what we’re getting with Nothing coming to the US. Will they make the big boys start to compete more? We’ll have to wait and see.
