The Nintendo Direct showcase on June 9, 2026 proved to be a smash hit with fans, with Nintendo revealing plenty of new and upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo also showcased some games that had previously been announced, but showed off additional footage. Splatoon Raiders, for example, was announced at an earlier Direct showcase. Nintendo revealed more gameplay of the game this time.
Of course, Nintendo also showcased two major games that fans have been waiting on for quite some time. One of those was Kingdom Hearts 4. Kingdom Hearts fans seem to have a love-hate relationship with the franchise due to its convoluted story spread across several different games that include titles on defunct platforms. Like the Nokia N-Gage. With Kingdom Hearts 3, the story of the entire franchise had essentially ended. So Kingdom Hearts 4 will basically start a new story arc. That is likely part of why fans have been so eager to get more information on the game. That, and it’s been a while since anything has been shown off. This was shown off near the end of the stream, but Nintendo had one more surprise.
The June 9 Nintendo Direct ended with a teaser for the Ocarina of Time remake
The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is one of the most beloved games of all time, and a fan favorite for many who love the Zelda franchise. An announcement of the remake closed out Nintendo’s Direct showcase on June 9 with a short cinematic teaser. It also wasn’t a complete surprise that it was there. There were rumors and suspicion that it might show up at a showcase soon following a big leak that was accurate on other game announcements.
While Nintendo didn’t show off any gameplay footage, it did confirm that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be launching in 2026. If Nintendo doesn’t delay the launch, then it seems likely that this would drop sometime close to the holidays. It’s also possible and likely that Nintendo will showcase more details about the game in its own dedicated stream later this year.
Nintendo also showed off more footage of The Duskbloods by FromSoftware and announced a closed network test coming later this year before the game’s launch. There were reveals of several other games as well, and the announcement of another Joy-Con 2 color com in late July.
