ASUS may have given up on smartphones for now but it has its head in the game for the Android tablet space, and at Computex 2026 this week it has officially announced the ASUS Pad T3201. This is a large new Android tablet that comes with a big 12.2-inch OLED display. Though like any Android device the new ASUS Pad can be used for many things, ASUS seems to be positioning this as a great entertainment device. And that’s not really far off the mark. In fact it’s probably spot on.
The big display, the OLED panel, the 2.8K resolution, and the Dolby Atmos audio all lend themselves well to a heightened entertainment experience on the go. It’s super easy to get lost in videos on your phone these days whether it’s binging Netflix from the couch or scrolling through YouTube Shorts while you wait for the water to boil. But it’s a lot more enjoyable to do those things on a large display. Not to mention four speakers with Dolby Atmos Cinematic Audio to really liven things up. Of course, the downside of watching anything on a tablet for longer than 10 minutes is holding it, at least in most cases. Tablets can be heavy. That doesn’t appear to be the case with the new ASUS Pad.
The 2026 ASUS Pad is designed to be lightweight and ultra portable
Larger tablets are great for watching movies and TV shows, or playing games, but the issue arises once the weight of those tablets starts to set in. After longer sessions, your wrists and arms start to get a little fatigued from holding a larger device for so long. ASUS is trying to prevent this by making the new ASUS Pad as ultra portable as possible. That isn’t to say it won’t get tiresome to hold. However, it was designed to be very slim and more lightweight. So the goal for ASUS was definitely to make this tablet easier and more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.
It has a weight of about 523g, so not too bad for a device of this size. It’s also 6.5mm thin, so you could easily toss it in a backpack pocket without taking up a bunch of extra space. In terms of other specs, it’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset, and it comes with a high-capacity 9,000mAh battery. The tablet also supports 45W wired charging so it shouldn’t take too long to charge it back up to full. ASUS claims it should be able to hit 50% in just 30 minutes. Which likely means around an hour, maybe just beyond an hour for 100%. Right now ASUS hasn’t confirmed pricing or availability details.
