Google has just announced the June Android Feature Drop, which brings along quite a few new features. Including Fake Call Detection. Android will now be able to detect and flag suspected spoofed calls. This is going to help protect you, your family, and friends by identifying fake callers and potentially save you from getting scammed.
Google says that this feature will be on by default and works automatically behind the scenes. You can think of it as a digital handshake between devices. So when a contact calls you, and you’re both using Phone by Google, their device sends a silent confirmation signal in real time to your device to verify the call is legitimate and coming from the contact’s device. This digital handshake uses end-to-end encryption RCS, so it is completely private.
Google also brings Photo Wardrobe and much more
This feature drop also brings a slew of other features, like Google Photos Wardrobe, which was first announced with the Motorola Razr back in April. With this feature, you’ll be able to use Google Photos to style your outfit using clothes from your own closet. Google Photos will catalog your clothes across different photos in your library, so you can try on looks virtually and even share them with your friends.
On that same realm, Google is adding “Find the look” with Circle to Search, so you can find an entire outfit, from hats to pants to shoes, all without leaving the app you’re currently in. This feature is rolling out for Android 14 and later devices.
Google is also rolling out Personal Safety Features for Kids, so the whole family can stay safe with features like crash detection, medical information displayed on their lock screen, and location sharing for kids under 13.
Quick Share to AirDrop is now available on more Android devices. And Emoji Kitch Stickers are getting new combinations in Gboard.
These updates will be rolling out to compatible Android phones in the coming days and weeks. Google says in their press release that there are “even more exciting updates coming soon in Android 17“. This will hopefully roll out later this month. As Android 16 rolled out to Pixel devices on June 10, 2025, we’re coming up on that time.
