When you think of gaming keyboards you likely don’t immediately think of options from Cherry XTRFY or its newly announced 8K gaming keyboard. That’s understandable given the amount of marketing around brands like Razer, or SteelSeries, or Logitech G, and other heavy hitters in the space. That being said, Cherry has been around a whole lot longer than any of the major gaming brands. So it’s probably worth at least considering what all that expertise has led to.
At Computex 2026 this week, Cherry XTRFY has officially announced the K63W Pro Compact keyboard. This is a wireless gaming keyboard which is immediately going to turn some people off because of the potential for input latency. However, with an 8,000Hz polling rate that’s going to be much less of an issue. The downside of something like this, is that using the 8,000Hz polling rate can be a heavy battery drainer. That probably won’t be an issue with this keyboard, though.
The 8K gaming keyboard from Cherry XTRFY comes with a massive rechargeable battery
Having a massive battery doesn’t necessarily mean a device is going to have good battery life. However, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a huge battery capacity that is capable of staying functional for a longer period of time between charges. The K63W keyboard comes with a huge 6,000mAh high-capacity battery. That’s going to be important because of the 8K polling.
On top of this, Cherry XTRFY says the keyboard’s ultra-wideband wireless connectivity will help with sustained high-performance gaming sessions. There’s no mention of specifics when it comes to battery life. So, it’s unclear how many hours you could keep using this keyboard before it needs to be plugged in. But with minimal backlighting and a smaller footprint, chances are it will last a while. The Cherry XTRFY K63W will launch in August at $169.99. That’s about the same cost as Razer’s new 8K Huntsman V3 Tenkeyless, but in a smaller form factor.
