OPPO recently rolled out a big ColorOS 16.1 update, which added a handful of new features, smoother animations, and more. The next major OS update from the brand will be ColorOS 17, which will be based on the latest Android 17. It seems the company has started its work on this, as a new leak suggests that ColorOS 17 may be inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass design.
ColorOS 17 will reportedly incorporate Apple’s Liquid Glass design
Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo hints that ColorOS 17 could be big on visual changes. OPPO will reportedly incorporate more Liquid Glass-like interface elements throughout the UI. It’s not entirely surprising that brands want to take inspiration from Apple’s design elements. We’ve seen that happen before, with even names sometimes.
As per the leak, ColorOS 17 could arrive with more consistent rounded corners across different parts of the system. There’s also a mention of “more light field rendering,” which could make the UI animations appear more dynamic. ColorOS 16.1 already improved system animations, but it seems the upcoming release will make them even more refined.

It’ll be based on Android 17
Digital Chat Station also mentions real-time lighting effects will be integrated into notifications, pop-up alerts, Dynamic Island-style ‘Live Alerts’, and music playback screens. We know it can be hard to imagine all this without a visual glimpse/ screenshots showing the new UI in action, but for now, this is what we’re getting. It does, however, look like OPPO is focusing on polishing visuals and system-wide consistency. Needless to say, Apple’s Liquid Glass inspiration is also in the mix.
A previous leak from earlier this year indicated that OPPO’s upcoming software could include improved CPU resource allocation, enhanced memory management, and better app retention during multitasking. Users may also see fewer frame drops across the interface. Camera performance may also see some improvements with better zoom transitions when clicking images and recording videos.
That said, all these are just leaks and not confirmed officially. So chances are they may or may not pan out entirely. ColorOS 17 may debut first on the OPPO Find X10 series, which will debut later this year in October, hopefully. It’ll then expand to other devices as per schedule.
