A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, revealed some interesting information about Samsung’s wide foldable earlier today, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The same tipster now has information to share about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Just to be clear, and avoid any confusion. Based on the information we have at the moment, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s successor, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be the new wide foldable.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will get a bigger battery & faster charging than its predecessor
Having said that, the tipster says that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will weigh 215 grams, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The new phone will get a bigger battery, though, a 5,000mAh unit, compared to a 4,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
That’s not all. The charging speed is also getting a boost, as the phone will support 45W charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is limited to 25W wired charging. So the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will have the same charging speed as the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
It will be 4.1mm thick when unfolded
Ice Universe says that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will measure 4.1mm when unfolded, while overall dimensions will remain identical to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
To sum up, he said that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is basically the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a larger battery and faster charging. It will also come with a new chip and some other upgrades, of course.
Both of these smartphones will launch in July, it seems. July 22 is rumored as the launch date, and the launch event will allegedly take place in London. None of that is official at this point, though, so keep that in mind. Samsung has yet to confirm the launch date.
