Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable, aka Galaxy Z Fold 8, will be incredibly light. A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, has just confirmed its weight, along with some other details about the device.
Samsung’s wide foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, will be incredibly light
According to the tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will weigh 201 grams. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is a different (square) type of foldable, weighs 215 grams. Even the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was lighter than the competition, so this is… incredibly light for a book-style foldable.
That’s not all that the tipster confirmed, however. He also said that the phone will be only 4.5mm thick when unfolded. On top of that, a 4,800mAh battery will be used by Samsung, and the device will support 45W wired charging.
Its battery capacity, charging speed, and camera details were revealed as well
Furthermore, the tipster talked about the cameras. He says that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be equipped with a new 50-megapixel camera sensor and natively support a 24-megapixel mode. There will be no need to download a Camera Assistant.
Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable seems more and more appealing by the day. Just to be clear, the same source said that its name will be the Galaxy Z Fold 8. So Samsung is mixing up its naming strategy.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7’s successor will be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, while the first-of-a-kind wide foldable will take the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name. It’s a bit confusing, that’s true, but that’s what Samsung opted to go with, it seems.
Both of these smartphones are tipped to arrive in July. July 22 is mentioned as the launch date, and London as the event venue. Samsung did not confirm neither of those just yet, so be patient.
