When smartphones with camera bumps first appeared, the internet collective kicked up a fuss. You’d think smartphone makers would take note of this and try to reduce the bumps, but if anything, they got bigger. But now, Japanese accessory maker MYNUS has unveiled a case for the iPhone 17 Pro that eliminates the bump entirely.
MYNUS iPhone 17 Pro accessory ditches the camera bump
This Apple iPhone 17 Pro accessory from MYNUS is basically a piece of polycarbonate that attaches to the back of the phone. As you can see in the photo above, once attached, the accessory hides the camera bump completely. But it doesn’t just hide the camera bump. According to the company, the wedge-shaped design is also supposed to make the phone feel more ergonomic in your hand.
However, from what we can tell, it does add considerable bulk to your phone, at least at the top before it tapers down to the bottom. It’s an interesting design, and we like the fact that it attaches to the phone via magnets. This means no fiddling with stickers or friction fitting, making it easy to put on and take off.
There are covers designed to protect the camera lenses as well as the flash unit. However, from personal experience, lens covers can sometimes make your photos look blurry, especially if they’re dirty. A lot of times, these covers are also made from plastic, making them more prone to scratching. That being said, it is cheaper to replace these covers than the actual camera lenses themselves, so maybe that’s a trade-off some are willing to put up with.

If this iPhone 17 Pro accessory sounds like something you might be interested in, it is available for order from the MYNUS website. It is priced at $39, which is somewhat decent. However, note that it doesn’t actually offer full protection, unlike other cases. We’d like to think it’s more decorative than functional.
But if the camera bump on your iPhone truly bothers you, then it might be worth picking up. Note that MYNUS ships from Japan, so there could be shipping and import fees to your region. The accessory is available in Rubber Black, Orange, Navy, and Sand White. Unfortunately, this case is only available for the iPhone 17 Pro, so iPhone 17 users are out of luck. But there are similar cases from the company for older Pro models too.
