MediaTek has just announced a successor to one of its most popular smartphone processors. The MediaTek Dimensity 7500 chip is here to succeed the Dimensity 7400 processor.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7500 is a new 4nm chip with a new NPU
This is a new mid-range chip from the company, and it’s a 4nm processor. It is supposed to compete directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen chips. It comes with a big-core CPU design and a modern GPU, not to mention a new NPU and an advanced 5G modem. Overall, though, it’s very similar to the Dimensity 7400.
The Dimensity 7500 has four Arm C1 Pro cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and four Arm C1 Nano cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It’s an 8-core Arm C1 CPU, and it uses the Arm Mali-G625 MC2 GPU.
LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 memory are supported
This processor also comes with support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage, max. No, it does not support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. MediaTek’s NPU 850 is used here, along with the company’s 5G-A modem.
Furthermore, Wi-Fi 7 is not supported, but the chip does support Wi-Fi 6E. Bluetooth 5.4 is also supported here, but nothing above that
AI performance is the biggest improvement
AI performance is the biggest story here, as that’s the biggest improvement compared to the Dimensity 7400. The NPU 850 is a notable improvement, and it should bring better on-device AI features. That includes speech recognition, contextual replies, notification summaries, and more.
This chip also brings a notable display-related improvement. FullHD+ is supported along with HDR playback, while this chip also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, unlike the Dimensity 7400. MediaTek’s HyperEngine tech and Adaptive Gaming Technology 4.0 are used here.
A new 5G modem is used
The Release-17 5G modem should be able to deliver faster speeds and better efficiency. When it comes to imaging, the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 supports up to 200MP Imagic 1050 cameras, along with HDR processing.
This announcement comes soon after the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 announcement, which we talked about a couple of days ago.
