There’s nothing inherently wrong with the design of the Apple Vision Pro. In fact, we think it looks pretty good and futuristic. However, according to a post on X, it seems that Apple might have a new version of the Vision Pro in the works. This time, it could come in a new coat of paint.
Apple working on new black version of Vision Pro
According to the images shared on X by Hong Kong developer pipfix, they shared what appears to be components of the new version of the Apple Vision Pro. However, what’s noticeable is that these components are in black. This suggests that Apple could be getting ready to launch a new version in a black finish.
This wouldn’t be Apple’s first time giving its products a “black” makeover. When Apple released the black version of the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, the internet lost its mind for a hot minute. This resulted in people listing the keyboard and mouse on eBay for ridiculous sums of money.
So it’s not entirely out of the question for Apple to release a black version of its wearable. However, the bigger question is, when will this refresh arrive? Well, the last time we saw a refresh was back in October, when it got the M5 chip. This suggests that a refresh could come this October, but we’re a little skeptical about that.
Apple’s smart glasses future
This is because Apple’s Vision Pro hasn’t really taken off the way the company had hoped for. However, that’s not surprising. The Vision Pro is incredibly expensive and incredibly niche. Sure, from a tech perspective it’s really cool and works as advertised. But at the same time, how many people would actually use it in their daily lives?
So much so that last we heard, Apple has reportedly given up on the Vision Pro. Instead, the company is focusing on smart glasses, which might be more practical day-to-day. So, for Apple to launch a black version of the Vision Pro doesn’t really make sense. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see if this black version ever sees the light of day.
