Xiaomi is also working on a wide foldable, and more information about the device just surfaced. The phone will be called the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 or potentially the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The name is still unknown.
Kartikey Singh shared the information, a tipster we are not all that familiar with. So please take the provided information with a grain of salt. He shared the info via X, across several posts.
Xiaomi’s wide foldable is coming with a 200MP main camera, it seems
He did note that the information is based on a prototype, so that’s also something worth noting. He claims that the phone will feature a 200-megapixel sensor for the main camera. In addition to that, two additional cameras will sit on the back of the phone.
The tipster also said that the phone will adopt a new wide screen aspect ratio similar to the Huawei Pura X Max and the upcoming foldable smartphone from Apple, the so-called iPhone Ultra.
Back in October last year, the same tipster said that Xiaomi plans to release this smartphone in the first half of the year. If that’s still true, the phone will arrive in June at the latest. It remains to be seen.
Quite a few smartphone OEMs are working on wide foldable devices
Quite a few smartphone manufacturers seem to be working on wide foldables. Huawei already announced its offering, while Samsung’s is expected in July. Apple will join the fray in September.
OPPO is allegedly developing one such device for this year as well. Vivo is rumored to be working on a wide foldable as well, and the same goes for HONOR, actually. So, you’ll have plenty to choose from.
We’re hoping that more information about Xiaomi’s offering will pop up soon, as we’d love to know more about the specs Xiaomi is planning to use.
