In addition to sharing its smartphone market report for the US, Omdia just did the same for Europe, for Q1 2026. Things in Europe are notably different from those in the US, as you’d expect, so let’s get into it.
33 million smartphones were shipped in Europe in Q1 2026
According to Omnia, 33 million smartphones were shipped in Europe in Q1 2026. That excludes Russia, though, so keep that in mind. That’s a 2% increase compared to the same quarter last year.
Things are not looking bright moving forward, though. The analysts are forecasting a 12% decline in shipments for the full year of 2026. So, the bulk of that will happen in the second half of the year.
Alright, what about the top 5 smartphone OEMs list? Well, we have that as well. It does look considerably different than the US one. In Europe, Samsung is still the top dog with 12.6 million smartphones shipped in Q1 2026. The company is holding 38% of the market and has an annual growth of 3%.
Apple is second placed with 8.8 million units shipped, and 26% of the market. Apple actually managed to grow 9% YoY, so more than Samsung. As you can see, these two companies alone claim over 60% of the smartphone market in Europe.
Moving on to third place, there sits Xiaomi. The company shipped 4.5 million devices in Q1 2026. Xiaomi claimed 14% of the market, and has a decline of 15% compared to the same period last year. It is also the only top 5 smartphone OEM that has seen a drop in shipments.
Motorola is Europe’s fastest-growing phone brand right now
Motorola sits in fourth place with 1.9 million devices shipped. The company holds 6% of the market and grew 17% YoY. OPPO closes out the top 5 list with 1.3 million devices shipped and 4% of the market. OPPO grew 9% YoY.
That leaves 12% of the market for all the other companies that did not make it into the top 5 list. Do note that Xiaomi’s stats include Redmi and POCO, while OPPO’s include realme and OnePlus.
