Though YouTube Music is quite popular with users across the globe, sometimes it feels like it lacks pretty basic options, like, for instance, different playlist sorting options. Fortunately, the music-streaming platform is now rolling out this option. This finally allows users to sort by Title, Artist, and Album.
YouTube Music is getting new title, artist, and album sorting options
While it’s not widely available yet, users on Reddit are seeing new sorting options, as first spotted by PiunikaWeb. They’re seeing three new sorting options: Title, Artist, and Album. These join the existing options: Manual, Top Voted, Newest first, and Newest last. It seems the new sorting options are available with YouTube Music version 9.20.52, going by a reply to the Reddit post. However, other users on the same version don’t have them yet.
This signals that it’s a server-side rollout from Google and is not tied to a specific app version. This could be a phased rollout, and it may not be widely available to everyone at the same time. But since some users are already seeing these new options, a wide rollout definitely looks around the block.

Seems to be a server-side rollout
While this may seem like a small update, it’s actually a long-requested feature among YouTube Music users. Especially since rival platforms like Spotify and Apple Music have had alphabetical sorting for years now. It’s actually quite puzzling that YouTube Music didn’t have these basic options all this time. Many users note that it should’ve been available from day one or been added long ago.
Either way, now that they’re finally starting to find their way, the new sorting options should make categorization simple for users.Â
While that’s positive news, separately, a YouTube Music bug is reportedly stopping playback after a single track. It seems the app doesn’t automatically move to the next song after the current one finishes. However, there’s a simple workaround to fix this. Restart the phone. If that doesn’t fix it, head to YouTube Music settings to toggle the Stream only via Wi-Fi option under Playback and restrictions, force close the app, wait for a few seconds, and open it again.
