Santikos Entertainment is pursuing an expansion plan that could include several new theater-anchored projects across the region.
The San Antonio Business Journal reports the company plans to sell off some older retail real estate assets to fund multiple new ground-up projects anchored by entertainment venues.
The company has already completed a deal for a property, selling its Legacy Oaks real estate near Loop 1604 and U.S. Highway 281 to Rio Capital Investments. It involved roughly 360,000 square feet of mixed-use retail real estate.
The company hopes to use the proceeds to expand. The growth plan includes the construction of Trinity Oaks, a mixed-use development spanning roughly 33 acres along U.S. Highway 281, northwest of the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort. That project will be anchored by an entertainment venue including 11 movie auditoriums and more than 15,000 square feet of retail space. Santikos is also pursuing a similar theater-anchored development in Far West San Antonio that will follow the Trinity Oaks project.
