The Galaxy Z Fold 8 would massively benefit from S Pen support and the inclusion of a privacy screen, but it won’t get these things, unfortunately. That’s according to well-known insider Ice Universe, who has stated on X that Samsung is choosing to forego adding either of these to its next flagship foldable phone. The lack of S Pen support really shouldn’t be a surprise.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 dropped support for the S Pen last year. So it makes little sense that Samsung would bring it back. Samsung removed it from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 because it wanted to make the phone thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Part of how it achieved a thinner phone was by removing the digitizer from the screen that works with the S Pen. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also rumored to be even slimmer. So, it’s unlikely that a digitizer for the S Pen could fit in the phone when Samsung already had to remove it for the current device.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 won’t come with a privacy screen
The privacy screen was a new feature that Samsung brought to the table with the Galaxy S26 series, though only with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Nevertheless, it being available on only one model didn’t stop it from being popular with users. So much so that there was hope Samsung would start using it on future phones. Sadly, it doesn’t look like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be one of them. If this turns out to be true, there could be several reasons for this decision.
Perhaps the privacy screen tech is not yet compatible with foldable displays. Or maybe applying it to a foldable display would make the phone too expensive. Whatever the case is, it seems that Samsung might keep this tech for its Galaxy S series phones for now. As far as the S Pen goes, it was already recently rumored that Samsung wasn’t adding support with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. So this further corroborates that earlier rumor.
Ice Universe also says that the crease in the display isn’t improving much. So if you were hoping that it would get less noticeable, it appears they won’t be a big change.
