KDC has purchased the former Electronic Data Systems campus (shown) in Plano and begun demolition to clear the way for a new $1 billion global headquarters for AT&T Inc.
The Dallas Business Journal reports that crews have started demolishing the driveway and the north parking garage at 5400 Legacy Dr. Demolition of the entire 1.6 million-square-foot campus could take about 5 to 6 months to complete.
AT&T has been based at Whitacre Tower in downtown Dallas since relocating from San Antonio in 2008. Its departure from the city is seen as a major loss for Dallas, while it’s being heralded as a major win for Plano’s economy.Â
NexPoint Development sold the 54-acre property to KDC, which is leading the AT&T project. AT&T will be KDC’s tenant.
Alongside KDC, the project team includes the architecture firm Gensler. JP Morgan is providing a $400 million construction loan to KDC.
If everything remains on track, employees could begin moving into the new Plano campus in the second half of 2028.
