Google held its annual Google I/O 2026 event on May 19, and while it announced a ton of stuff, one of the more useful things it’s introducing is a new feature for Android phones called Android Halo. Earlier in the event, it announced Gemini 3.5 Flash, which includes a new feature called Gemini Spark. This is a new personal AI agent that will handle your tasks for you. The more you use it, though, the more challenging it might be to keep track of what it’s doing at any given moment.
This is where Android Halo comes in. It’s essentially a way for you to see what your agent is doing at a glance so you don’t have to stress over it. Google has always been about making things more convenient for its users, and this is just one more way it’s trying to simplify things for everyone.
The Android Halo feature won’t be available till later this year
Google previewed Android Halo at Google I/O 2026, but it won’t actually be available for users until later in the year. Google doesn’t say when exactly it’s launching, though. Just that it’s coming in 2026. It does, however, confirm that it will work with Gemini Spark and other AI agents that Google offers.
When Android Halo launches, it’ll take whatever task you give it and surface the details of its progress at the top of your phone screen. What’s more is that you’ll be able to see this information at a glance no matter what screen you’re on. So you can check in on how far along it is at completing the task you gave it whenever you want. Think of it as a tool that will help you multitask more efficiently on your phone so you don’t break your stride. Google says it will share more later this year.
