Samsung has just announced the One UI 9 beta program launch. It’s launching this week, and it’s starting with the Galaxy S26 series. So you’ll soon be able to experience One UI 9. Just keep in mind that this is a beta update.
Android 17-based One UI 9 is official for Samsung Galaxy S26 users
What’s new in it, though? Well, Samsung did list some changes in the announcement press release. The company confirmed it’s based on Android 17, of course, and that it’ll bring “expanded creative tools, customization options, a more accessible mobile experience and stronger protection against potential security threats.”
Samsung said that Samsung Notes are getting creative new tools. That includes decorative tapes and a wider variety of pen line styles. The Contacts app, on the other hand, will offer direct access to Creative Studio for “creating personalized profile cards without the need to switch between apps.”
Quick Panel is getting improved, along with Samsung Notes, Contacts, and more
The Quick Panel is getting updated as well. It will give users greater control over the layout. Brightness, sound, and media player are each independently adjustable in One UI 9 Beta, with more size options.
What else? Well, the Accessibility is getting improved by an adjustable Mouse Key speed that enables smoother cursor controls. A combined TalkBack package will bring together features previously offered separately by Google and Samsung.
The next Text Spotlight feature is also included here. It will display selected text in a larger format, so that you can easily see it. Samsung said that One UI 9 also introduced enhanced protection against suspicious apps and potential threats.
The Galaxy S26 users in 6 countries are eligible for One UI 9 beta this week
The One UI 9 beta program will be available to the Galaxy S26 series users in Germany, India, Poland, Korea, the UK, and the US starting this week. You can apply to join the beta program via the Samsung Members app if you want.
Samsung also confirmed that the stable, or as the company put it, “full experience” of One UI 9 will be introduced with the upcoming Galaxy flagship devices later this year. In other words, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and a wide foldable from the company. Those devices are coming in July, most likely.
