It seems that HONOR is working on the new Magic 9 lineup. If rumors are to be believed, the phones in the series may debut in October this year, much like the predecessors did last year. The phones could use ARRI-powered imaging tech to bring some solid upgrades to videography and photography. While the technicalities of those remain under wraps, a new leak sheds light on the HONOR Magic 9 Pro hardware, including dual 200MP cameras.
HONOR Magic 9 Pro leak reveals dual 200MP cameras and a 2nm chip
Digital Chat Station, who has a reliable track record when it comes to leaks, in a Weibo post, has disclosed some key details of an upcoming phone, which, from the looks of it, seems to be a flagship. Though the post doesn’t mention any names, fingers point towards the HONOR Magic 9 Pro.
The leak claims the phone will arrive with a next-generation 2nm chip, possibly the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, a generational upgrade over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found inside the HONOR Magic 8 Pro. It’ll reportedly feature a flat 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPO 2.0 display, which is slightly larger than the 6.71-inch one on the Magic 8 Pro (review).
3D facial recognition tech and wireless charging
Perhaps the biggest upgrade would be to the cameras. The HONOR Magic 9 Pro is expected to feature a 200MP 1/1.28-inch main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. This should put the upcoming HONOR phone on similar lines to the competition from OPPO and Vivo.
Another notable addition, according to Digital Chat Station, is 3D facial recognition. This should make biometric unlocking more secure. It could be based on Metalenz’s Polar ID technology, which is reportedly inching close to market readiness. The phone will also include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.Â
The HONOR Magic 9 Pro could get a battery that’s at least 8,000mAh. Rest, the phone may ship with wireless charging and an impressive waterproof body. Considering this is a leak, we suggest you take this leak with a pinch of salt.
