Senior executives at Walt Disney are discussing how to unify the company’s large set of mobile apps and turn Disney+ into a new ‘super app,’ according to a a report from Bloomberg. This would reportedly act as a one-stop destination for all things Disney, a place where users can book park tickets, buy merchandise, play games, and even stream content.
Disney reportedly explores ‘super app’ to unite Disney+, parks, cruises, and shopping
This new super app will reportedly combine Disney+ with other apps. These include Disneyland Resort and Disney Cruise Line Navigator to make one unified app. The company reportedly refers to this platform as a “super app” internally. Disney’s new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, is apparently aiming to streamline how customers interact with the brand and make its digital services work more cohesively.
The discussions are still in early stages. Sources familiar with the matter say the company has not taken any concrete steps to develop the product. Despite that, the idea has apparently been highlighted in internal presentations. This signals the potential D’Amaro sees in expanding the company’s direct-to-consumer business, as per sources.

The company has long toyed with the idea of creating a unified app for all things Disney. There was apparently an idea about a membership program, something on the lines of Amazon’s Prime service. As the company kept releasing more apps in recent times, it periodically kept revisiting the idea of combining them. That said, the ambition didn’t gain traction due to logistical setbacks, the people said.
D’Amaro, who succeeded Bob Iger as CEO in March, is reportedly keen to revisit the idea. During the company’s annual meeting, he told shareholders that “Disney+ will continue to evolve beyond a traditional streaming service to become the digital centerpiece of our company– a portal that connects our stories, experiences, games, films, and more in entirely new ways.”
