The Vivo X Fold 6 is one of the most anticipated foldable phones of the year. It’s Vivo’s upcoming flagship foldable, and some new information just surfaced, courtesy of Digital Chat Station, one of the most prominent tipsters out there.
The Vivo X Fold 6 will include MediaTek’s best chip, as it ditches Snapdragon
He did not mention a phone by name, but it’s kind of obvious what phone he’s talking about, as it’s a foldable from Vivo. Based on the information he shared, the Vivo X Fold 6 will go for a MediaTek chip this time around. The Vivo X Fold 5 utilized the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip last year.
The Vivo X Fold 6 will ship with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, it seems. That’s the flagship chip from MediaTek, and it will remain in that position until Q4 when the Dimensity 9600 Pro is rumored to arrive.
That phone is also tipped to utilize a 200-megapixel main camera, an upgrade from last year’s 50-megapixel unit. It will still have a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3x optical zoom), though. We’re not sure if there will be any sensor or lens upgrades.
It will also offer a more rounded design
A side-facing fingerprint scanner will also be a part of the package. A circular camera island is mentioned as well, and the same goes for a more rounded design. Vivo will round up those corners a bit, probably, at least.
Digital Chat Station didn’t touch upon the weight or thickness of the device, but chances are it will be very thin and light. The Vivo X Fold 5 weighs only 217 grams, which is quite a feat for a large book-style foldable.
This rumor is actually a continuation of a rumor tipster shared recently. In that one, he mentioned a 7,000mAh battery, along with an 8.01-inch main display, and a 6.51-inch cover display. He also noted a 200-megapixel camera in that rumor.
It’s expected to launch in June
The Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to arrive mid-year, so… soon. The Vivo X Fold 5 was announced in June last year, and we’re expecting its successor to drop in June as well. Vivo did not announce anything just yet, though.
