The official US launch of the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 has reached the US, with the tablet now being on sale for US consumers. Lenovo initially showed this tablet off earlier in the year, and at that time the company showed it off in three separate color options: Black, White, and what looks like a Neon Green color.
Now that the tablet is fully available in the US, Lenovo only seems to be offering the Black colorway for this device, at least when you go to the company’s website to buy it from Lenovo directly. Lenovo also seems to be the only place you can get this tablet for the time being, which means that as of now, you can’t pick up the other two colors. What’s neat about the other color options is that they come with matching cases. It’s possible that Lenovo plans to roll these other colors out in the future, which would be a nice change of pace as past models only came in Black.
With the launch of the Legion Tab Gen 5, you can kiss reasonable prices goodbye
It’s been known for months that most consumer electronics devices with memory in them would be seeing some sort of price increase, so it shouldn’t be surprising when a new device comes out and it’s noticeably more expensive. That doesn’t really stop the shock from happening when you see the price tag, though, even though it should.
Lenovo’s Legion Tab Gen 5 is the latest new device to hit the market with a considerably higher price tag than past devices. Retailing for a whopping $849.99, it’s about $300 more than the previous model, which went for $549. This new model has a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. So there is a notable upgrade there. However, it still comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Lenovo might be using newer components, but the capacities are the same.
It’s also the same size display. While the price is high, you are at least getting a few nice extras. The 68W charger comes with it as does the return of the matching folio case. Still, $849.99 is a lot to ask for a device that will be used primarily for mobile gaming and watching video. Especially when you can still find Lenovo’s older model for around $500.
