Motorola is finally doing it. The Razr Fold 2026 marks the company’s first-ever book-style foldable smartphone, a big deal for a brand that’s long dominated the clamshell space with its flip phones.
Pre-orders open on May 14 through Motorola’s website and Best Buy, with the phone officially hitting shelves on May 21. Making the official Motorola Razr Fold Release Date, May 21.
The Razr Fold will run you $1,899 in the US. It’s pricey, but it actually slots in cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 while sitting just $100 above the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These are really the only other competitors in the US right now.
What You’re Getting for That Price
The hardware is hard to argue with. Inside, you’ll find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage, paired with an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display and a 6.6-inch pOLED cover screen. The battery is a 6,000mAh unit, the largest in any US foldable right now, with 80W TurboPower charging capable of delivering over 12 hours of use in under 10 minutes. On cameras, Motorola went with a triple 50MP setup anchored by a Sony LYTIA 828 sensor, good enough to earn a DXOMARK Gold rating. And it’s the world’s first folding phone to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which Motorola says delivers significantly better drop performance than previous-gen glass.
The Razr Fold comes in two Pantone colorways, Blackened Blue and Lily White. There is also a special edition for the FIFA World Cup, but Motorola hasn’t given us many details on that just yet. The Razr Fold measures in at just 9.89mm thick when folded. It’s a sleek, rounded device that doesn’t try to look like a mini laptop. For Motorola’s first crack at a book-style foldable, it’s an impressive debut.
