In addition to announcing its new Razr series of smartphones and its foldable devices, the company also announced a new member of the Moto G series. The Motorola Moto G87 arrived.
This smartphone does follow Motorola’s design language. It has a flat display on the front, with a centered display camera hole up top. On the back, two cameras are located in the top-left corner. That portion of the backplate does protrude, though it’s covered by the same material as the rest of the phone’s back side.
The Motorola Moto G87 comes in several Pantone-curated colors
Speaking of which, the Moto G87 will be available in three Pantone-curated color options, even though only two were shown. The blue and black models are shown below, and as you can see, they don’t have glass on the back. This seems to be eco leather, but we cannot be sure.
The phone features a 6.78-inch 1.5K Extreme AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its brightness goes up to 5,000 nits, in theory. The Gorilla Glass 7i protects this panel.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 SoC, which is a 4nm chip, fuels this phone. Needless to say, that’s not exactly one of the more powerful chips out there. That chip is backed by 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage. The storage is expandable, though.
Android 16 is included, along with a 200-megapixel main camera
Android 16 comes pre-installed on the phone, while there are two SIM card slots available here. A 5,200mAh battery is also included, while the phone supports 30W Turbo Charging. There is also a fingerprint scanner placed under the display.
The Motorola Moto G87 comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, along with the MIL-STD-810H certification. It offers great ingress protection, while it can also take a hit. Stereo speakers are included as well.
A 200-megapixel main camera sits on the back of the phone, while it’s backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide snapper (f/2.2 aperture). On the front, a 32-megapixel selfie camera is located (f/2.2 aperture).
The phone measures 164.58 x 77.37 x 7.38mm, while it weighs 183 grams. Its pricing starts at €399 ($466), and it will become available across EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) and also LATAM (Latin America) in the coming weeks.
