The Motorola Razr 2026 Ultra is the company’s brand-new flip phone foldable. It was announced earlier today, along with two of its siblings. In this article, we’ll be comparing that phone with the best flip phone Samsung has to offer. In other words, this is a Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 comparison. Considering we didn’t review the Razr Ultra 2026 yet, this will be more of a spec comparison. A review is coming, though.
As we usually do when it comes to comparisons, the first thing we’ll do is list the specs of both smartphones. Following that, we will go on to compare the design of these two phones, along with their displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. With that being said, let’s get to it.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Design
These two phones actually look quite similar. When unfolded, they both have a flat display, with similar, uniform bezels, and a centered display camera hole up top. Even the corner curvature is similar on the two phones. They’re difficult to tell apart from the front, when unfolded. Both phones have an aluminum frame, but their backplates are different. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has glass on the back, while the Motorola Razr 2026 Ultra comes in several finishes, including an Alcantara finish and a wood finish.
Considering different finishes, the in-hand feel is different, and the Motorola Razr 2026 Ultra is grippier in comparison. The frame on the two phones is also handled differently, as the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s frame is flatter in comparison. The button positioning is the same, though. When folded, the power/lock key sits above the volume up and down keys on the right side, while it’s the other way around when unfolded.
Both phones have rather large cover displays. The one on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a bit larger, in all honesty, by 0.1 inches. The camera layout on those displays is also quite similar. Both phones include two horizontally-aligned cameras in the top-left corner, and next to them is an LED flash. Both those cameras and an LED flash sit inside the cover display on both of these smartphones.
Both of these smartphones also come with an IP48 certification for water and dust resistance. The Motorola Razr 2026 Ultra is a bit taller and narrower than the Galaxy Z Flip 7, while it’s also a bit thicker. The difference in weight is 11 grams; Motorola’s offering is a bit heavier.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Display
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 features a 7-inch main Extreme AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it supports HDR10+ content. UTG is used here, while the display aspect ratio is 22:9. The resolution is 2992 x 1224, and the display goes up to 165Hz when it comes to refresh rate. Its peak brightness is at 5,000 nits, while Dolby Vision is supported, and the display is Pantone Validated. The cover display measures 4 inches, and it’s also an Extreme AMOLED panel. HDR10+ content is supported, while the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protects the display. The resolution here is 1272 x 1080, and the refresh rate is also 165Hz. Dolby Vision is supported, and the peak brightness is 3,000 nits.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the flip side, has a 6.9-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main display. That panel is flat, and it supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The resolution it offers is 2520 x 1080, while the display aspect ratio is 21:9. The cover display measures 4.1 inches, and it’s a Super AMOLED panel. The refresh rate is 120Hz, while the peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The resolution here is 1048 x 948, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the panel.
Both Motorola and Samsung made sure to use great hardware for these displays, and chances are you’ll enjoy what they offer, regardless of which one you end up getting. All four displays are vivid, have good viewing angles, and are more than sharp enough. The refresh rate is technically higher on Motorola’s device, but only when needed. All those panels are very smooth.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Performance
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is a 3nm chip from Qualcomm. It was a flagship processor for last year. That chip is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside this smartphone, while the device also includes 512GB of storage. The storage is not expandable, in case you were wondering.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, includes the Exynos 2500 processor, which is a 3nm chip. That processor is Samsung’s flagship offering for last year. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and Samsung also opted for UFS 4.0 flash storage inside this phone. The storage here is not expandable either.
So, neither phone includes current-gen flagship chips, but that’s not something you’ll notice. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 works really well with that Exynos chip, and if our experience with the Snapdragon 8 Elite is anything to go by, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026’s performance will also be up to par. You really shouldn’t be bothered by the chip choice here. We don’t really expect any problems, but you’ll know more once our full review arrives.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Battery
Motorola opted for a 5,000mAh battery for the Razr Ultra 2026. That battery pack offers notably more capacity than what Samsung used. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with a 4,300mAh battery. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 did not exactly impress in our battery test, though it all depends on how much you end up using the smaller screen vs the larger screen. We are expecting better results from the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026.
We’re basing this solely on the battery capacity the phone offers. Well, that, and the fact that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 did not impress. We’re not expecting miracles here, but the Motorola Razr 2026 Ultra should be able to offer better battery life. Our review will be coming in the near future, and you’ll be able to find out more about that. Battery testing is one of the things we’re most interested in when it comes to that review.
What about charging? Well, Motorola’s new phone supports 68W wired charging, along with 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Samsung’s phone can be fully charged in an hour and a half, but we’re expecting the Razr Ultra 2026 to charge faster than that, despite the fact it has a notably larger battery. It remains to be seen.
Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Cameras
The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has two cameras on the back. The main camera on the device is a 50-megapixel main camera (LOFIC sensor, f/1.8 aperture), along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.0 aperture, macro, 122-degree FoV). We still don’t know the sensor sizes for either of these two cameras. There is also a 50-megapixel selfie camera on the main screen.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, has two cameras on the back as well. It has a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.57-inch sensor size), alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide snapper (f/2.2 aperture, 123-degree FoV, 1/3.2-inch sensor size). Motorola’s device offers a larger sensor on the ultrawide camera for sure, while we’re still not sure about the main one.
Either way, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 does a fine job with the main camera. It’s not one of the best out there, but when you look at flip foldables only, it is very solid. The ultrawide camera is another story entirely. It does a good job in good lighting, but not great. In low light, you’ll want to stick with the main camera. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is still a mystery at this point, but we’re looking forward to testing its cameras.
Audio
Both of these smartphones have stereo speakers. The ones on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are fine and loud enough. We’re actually expecting similar performance from the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026, based on its predecessor.
There is no audio jack here, on either of the two smartphones. You can, however, utilize their Type-C ports if you want to use your wired headphones. Alternatively, Bluetooth is at your disposal.
