In recent weeks, Samsung faced backlash from Galaxy S25 users due to rumors about limiting AI software features on the Galaxy S26 lineup. The pressure worked, as Samsung will bring those features to last year’s flagship phones. Now, recent leaks suggest that the upcoming One UI 8.5 update will port four major S26 AI features to Galaxy S24 phones as well.
Galaxy S24 to get smarter calls and cleaner audio S26 upgrades via One UI 8.5
As shared by @MEMETCAN88 on X/Twitter, one of the best additions is the AI-powered Call Screening. This is a personal digital assistant that answers calls on your behalf. It politely asks the caller for their name and the reason for their call. Then, it provides a real-time transcription so you can decide whether to pick up or stay focused on your work. This feature will live directly within the Phone app settings, allowing for deep customization of voices and languages.
On the multimedia front, the Advanced Audio Eraser is making its way to the 2024 flagships. Unlike basic noise cancellation, this utility allows users to manually reduce the volume of specific unwanted sounds while using apps like YouTube or Netflix. Accessible through the Quick Panel, it offers pretty advanced levels of control over the acoustic environment.
Creative freedom and enhanced editing
For those who enjoy digital art, the update introduces Creative Studio. This application is designed for crafting everything from custom profile cards to intricate wallpapers using text prompts or simple doodles. While it provides a powerful suite of artistic effects, reports suggest that, for now, this particular app might require an S Pen to function. So, it could be an exclusive to the Ultra model.
Photography enthusiasts will also get some love. An improved version of Photo Assist will allow for more intuitive image editing via text commands. Users can now describe exactly how they want to merge people or objects from different photos into a single project. This makes complex compositions much more accessible for the average user.
The wait is almost over
Samsung appears to be testing these features in an internal build known as “DZD9.” Korean users might get early access to a stable release. Meanwhile, the global rollout is expected to begin as early as next month.
