- Ford CEO Jim Farley has teased the 2026 Explorer Tremor
- The SUV is coming soon with a host of off-road upgrades.
- It may offer a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 400 hp.
Ford introduced the facelifted Explorer at last year’s Chicago Auto Show and now the company is gearing up to launch a Tremor variant. The news was confirmed by CEO Jim Farley, who tweeted a teaser image and said the model is “coming soon.”
While Farley didn’t elaborate, the teaser shows a liftgate sporting yellow Tremor badging. We can also see what appears to be a revised rear bumper with silver accents.

That’s not much to go on, but the off-road focused variant will replace the Timberline and feature a number of rugged upgrades. Details are few and far between, but Tremor variants typically have a retuned suspension and increased ride height. We can also expect all-terrain tires, skid plates, and an off-road focused driving mode.
They should be joined by a handful of relatively minor styling tweaks to help set the Tremor apart. These will presumably include yellow accents and, possibly, recovery hooks.
Less is known about the interior, but Explorer drivers should find a familiar 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch infotainment system with Google built-in. This provides access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play store.
Under the hood, we can expect a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. The former produces 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque, while the latter develops 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm).
